On Saturday I appeared to be in a promotional party advertising some suicidal products. And it made my day, because they did the party very originally and well organized and it introduced a game combined of usual partying and video gaming. The building was separated into 4 levels of satisfaction and one was encouraged to pass all of them.
Each entered person became a player of the game. A fabric band was fastened on a hand for registering the wins and loses of that person in each level. One had two tries of playing Ping Pong, Tetris, Packman, or some other specific video game to get to the next level. If you lose a match, you get a stamp with a cross onto your band. If you win a match, you get a stamp with a star. If you lose both times, you are stuck in the level you achieved plus all the levels below. If you get a star at the number of a specific level on your band, you can go to that level. It’s a pity, I had no black marker at that time. ![]()

The first level was a dance hall with hardcore techno music. At midnight it was almost empty. And the sounds were terrible (not of my taste). So we wanted to leave this level ASAP. Even when there were plenty of XBox consoles with different sizes of TVs integrated into nicely done stands for playing and getting stamps, we cheated the first level and went through the security guys directly to the second level, while they were explaining the rules to other people. The next level was a dance floor with club music. Pretty cool and crowded with beautiful people.
The entrance to the third level was too narrow and the security guy was very picky and strict. So it was hard to cheat this time and we had to play those games. It wasn’t easy to concentrate for the first time, because of alcohol and not being used to the discrete joypad controls. BTW, it was fun to get to know new people while playing against them. And my second trial to return the Ping Pong ball with a pad 10 times was successful and I got the stamp to get to the third level.

As the queue to the third level was very long, we went back to the first level to play some games there and to get the missing stamps. To hit the ball 5 times after the second level is a piece of cake.
The third level was a chill-out zone. The consoles were balanced so that only hardcore and absolutely sober players could pass the game and to get to the last level which tended to be a live concert. I considered the fourth level as a place for VIP guests who got there without playing the game, and a few nerd-gamers.

I wasn’t lucky. I didn’t save the princess or whoever was waiting for me there
. And I didn’t find out how worthy the 4th level was for the winners. Anyway, all losers of the 3rd level got caps, music CDs, or t-shirts as a consolation prize. And that’s not so bad, wasn’t it? The night continued with friends, strangers, music, dances, alcohol, and good mood!
Game over.
